How We Check Consultants
Immigration scams cost workers thousands of dollars and years of wasted time. Red Seal Hub checks every listed consultant's licence against the official CICC register.
The Problem
- •Fake immigration consultants target international workers
- •Scammers charge thousands for services they never deliver
- •People lose their money and their chance to apply
- •Hard to verify consultants from overseas
What We Do
- Check every consultant's licence against the CICC register
- Confirm the licence is active, not suspended or revoked
- Only licensed RCICs can list on Red Seal Hub
- Book and pay through Red Seal Hub where the consultant offers it
How the Licence Check Works
Registry Check
Look up the licence on the official CICC register
Status Check
Confirm the licence is active and in good standing
Verification Badge
Only consultants who pass the check get listed
Name Match
The name on the licence must match the profile

Why Get Your Red Seal in Canada?
You don't always need a Red Seal to work in Canada, but having one is a real advantage when you want to stay, earn more and find better work.
Start Preparing BEFORE You Come to Canada
If English trade terms are hard for you at home, they'll be harder on a Canadian job site. Workers who arrive already prepared have an easier path to certification and to their first job here.
Compulsory Trades
Certification Required by Law
In many provinces, you cannot legally work in these trades without being certified or registered as an apprentice:
- Electrician: most provinces require certification
- Plumber: licensed plumbers only in most areas
- Gas Fitter: safety-critical and regulated
- Refrigeration Mechanic: requires certification
- Sheet Metal Worker: compulsory in many provinces
You'll need a licence to work in these trades, so start preparing now.
Voluntary Trades
Not Required, But It Helps
You can work without certification, but a Red Seal makes you easier to hire:
- Welder: certification helps you land industrial work
- Carpenter: helps you get on large projects
- Heavy Equipment Tech: mining and oil employers often prefer certified techs
- Cook: certification helps you move up in a kitchen
- Automotive Tech: dealerships often require it
Many employers look for certified workers first.
Work Anywhere in Canada
Interprovincial mobility means you can work in any province without extra certification. Fly-in/fly-out jobs, seasonal work or a move to another province: all open to you.
Better Earning Potential
A Red Seal shows employers you meet the national standard, and many will pay more for it.
More Job Options
Some employers only hire certified workers, especially on large projects and industrial sites.
Helps You Stay in Canada
A Canadian certificate of qualification can add points to your Express Entry CRS score. And Canada needs more trades workers.
Your Skills, Recognized
Red Seal proves your international experience meets Canadian standards. Less explaining your qualifications.
Be Ready from Day One
Workers who prepare before arriving are ready sooner. Learn the terms and the codes before you land.

No. You can study from anywhere. Red is available any time and can speak 56 languages. You can prepare for the Red Seal exam while you are still in your home country, then write the exam once you are in Canada.
Red Seal is Canada's interprovincial standard for skilled trades. It's recognized across all provinces and territories, making it easier to work anywhere in Canada. Your existing experience can count toward eligibility once your province assesses it. Then you write the exam to show you meet the Canadian standard.
It can. A Canadian certificate of qualification can add points to your Express Entry CRS score, and it is one way to meet the Federal Skilled Trades Program requirements. Some Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) also have streams for trades workers. A licensed immigration consultant can tell you what applies to you.
Only work with Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultants (RCICs). You can verify their registration at the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants (CICC) website. Every consultant in our directory has had their RCIC licence checked against the CICC register.
Demand changes by province and by year. Job Bank, run by the Government of Canada, publishes job outlooks and wages for each trade and region. It is the best place to check current demand for your trade.
